The Sleep Moment
Fall asleep to falling sand, then it fades itself out
Dunarium is a relaxing falling-sand app for iPhone and Android with a Sleep Moment: set a timer from 30 seconds to 12 hours, and it fades the light and the live soundscape to nothing. No ads, no account, no subscription, and it works offline after you install it.

What happens when you tap Sleep?
Sleep is one of Dunarium's Moments, a mode built for the end of the day. You set a timer, rest the phone on the nightstand, and the app winds down:
- The on-screen light dims and fades toward black.
- The live soundscape fades out along with it.
- The screen keeps dimming through the wind-down, so nothing glares in a dark room.
- When the timer ends, the light and the sound are gone, with no alarm and no next-episode autoplay.
Pair it with the Ambient Moment's dim bedside scene, which shows a soft clock in the dark, and the phone becomes a quiet nightstand object instead of a bright screen.
How long can the sleep timer run?
Set any length from 30 seconds up to 12 hours.
- Durations move in 30-second steps, chosen on an hours:minutes:seconds picker.
- A recents list keeps the lengths you use, so a nightly 45-minute fade is one tap away.
- The same timer runs the Focus Moment too (a sand hourglass that ends in a soft chime) if you'd rather wind down while still awake.
Can you fall asleep to the sound?
The sound is generated live as the sand moves, so it never repeats the same way twice.
- A procedural ASMR soundscape makes soft ticks, bloops, and churns as grains fall through gel and past rising air bubbles.
- A per-voice mixer lets you balance three voices (sand, bubbles, and churn) or pull any of them down to silence.
- Gentle grain haptics are adjustable, and you can switch them off for a still nightstand.
Because the Sleep Moment fades the sound out on your timer, it won't play all night unless you set it to.
Is there a sleep app with no subscription?
Most relaxing apps rent you calm by the year. Subscription apps like Calm and Headspace typically run about $60–80 a year. Calm's annual plan is $69.99/year, though Calm now also offers a one-time "Calm for Life" plan (around $39.99). For that you get a large library: guided meditations, courses, sleep music, and Sleep Stories narrated by well-known voices. If that's what you're after, those apps do it well.
Dunarium works differently. It's a sand toy with a fade-out timer, and at $4.99 you buy it once.

- No ads, ever, so there's nothing to skip before you settle in.
- No account, no sign-up. Open it and it works.
- Works offline after installation.
- Sensor readings (the tilt that pours the sand) and any camera frames stay on your device.
Is this a sleep aid?
No. Dunarium is a relaxing falling-sand toy. It is not a medical or therapeutic product. Winding down at the end of the day is an ordinary part of life, and the Sleep Moment gives your hands something quiet to do before it fades out.
